The success of this mission is dependent upon regional cooperation with respect to:
- Infrastructure
- Utilities
- Education
- Legislative Issues
- Positive local, regional, national and international identity of Virginia Beach as a location for business
- Public/private partnerships
This mission is carried out with an emphasis on:
Vision
Creative, innovative leadership
Participation in local and regional issues
Quality development and growth
Over 50% of the office and industrial land developed in the City is directly attributable to the City of Virginia Beach Development Authority’s extraordinary efforts. Municipally-owned sites, from 3.5 acres to 125 acres, are ready for development. In addition, land at very competitive prices can be made available to new businesses and existing industries.
The Authority was established by the Virginia General Assembly in 1964 as a component, but legally separate unit, of the City of Virginia Beach.
