Small businesses are big business for the City of Virginia Beach and a key component to creating a vibrant, successful, and global community. Throughout 2018​, the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development, in partnership with our business community, will continue to support the small business community by providing a series of free workshops.​

 Session Information


The Annual Small, Women- and Minority-owned Business Forum will be held on October 23 at the new Zeiders American Dream Theater. This free event, sponsored by TowneBank and Inside Business, is organized by Virginia Beach Economic Development and Department of Purchasing to introduce strategic business partners in the arts and entertainment industries.​

The Forum provides small business owners an opportunity to hear from local experts and stakeholders about the various facets of small business and entrepreneurship.

National, Regional and Local Business Resources Workshop​

The workshop is scheduled for January 25, 2018 , from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Central Library.​

Grow Your Business Through Exporting ​​​​

February 15, 2018​ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join the City of Virginia Beach and Department of Economic Development for the free Grow Your Business Through Exporting Workshop on February 15 from 11 am to 1 pm at Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, Virginia 23452. Lunch is provided. 

Learn about enhancing your web presence, sales missions, relabeling and adding production capacity and new employees. The Virginia Port Authority and Small Business Administration will discuss programs to help businesses navigate securing capital for growing needs.
